Our team of instructors
Led by our Chief Driving Instructor Steve Pizzati, our exceptional team of Audi driving experience instructors also features Luke Youlden, Chris Pither, Nathan Pretty, Garnet Patterson and Steven Johnson. Their skill is beyond comparison, their pedigree without question, with over 100 Bathurst 1000 starts between them, 14 national titles and countless podiums and pole positions.
As well as being incredible drivers who have been internationally-trained to the most exacting Audi standards, they are also exceptional communicators who are dedicated to making sure your Audi driving experience is safe, is rewarding and is incredibly exciting.

Steve Pizzati
Steve is not only Audi’s Chief Driving Instructor, he is a race engineer, race driver and one of the country’s preeminent voices on motoring. Best known as the host of Top Gear Australia, Steve is himself a race-winning former national racer. Responsible for building Audi’s team of driving instructors, he hand-selects the team based not only on being sensational drivers, but also great communicators who are passionate about sharing their knowledge. Steve has been our Chief Driving Instructor since 2011 and has so far led hundreds of Audi driving experiences right around the world. To say that Steve knows what he’s doing is somewhat of an understatement.
Luke Youlden
Luke is a now retired Australian V8 Supercars racing driver with an outstanding pedigree and over 20 Bathurst starts. Son of famed Australian Production Car Champion, Kent, Luke has achieved what most drivers can only dream, winning the Bathurst 1000 at Mount Panorama in 2017. Luke has been part of the Audi driving experience team since 2012 bringing with him not only an incredible amount of track experience but also professional driver training and an incredible understanding of engineering.
Chris Pither
A Kiwi, Chris now calls Melbourne home. He’s a seven time New Zealand champion across multiple categories having driven a range of vehicles from open-wheelers to GT3 to V8 Supercars. He is a current Supercar driver racing for Team Sydney and has been part of the Audi driving experience team since 2014 and brings with him the latest from the ever-changing world of Supercars.
Nathan Pretty
An all-time favourite on the racing circuit, Nathan is one of the most popular figures in Australian motorsport. An outright winner in the inaugural Bathurst 24 hour race and with masses of big team racing experience, Nathan has over 30 years of racing experience plus two World titles in Jet Sprint boats. As an Audi driving experience instructor, you know you will be learning from an icon of Australian racing.
Garnet Patterson
Garnet is one of our younger drivers yet is still another national championship member of the team, having won the Formula 3 Australia National class in 2014. Garnet is a Silver FIA graded driver who is currently racing in the Asian LMP3 championship. Garnet joined our ADE team in 2016. He adds a youthful and energetic quality to our team.
Steven Johnson
Being an incredibly successful race driver in his own right is no real surprise when you consider Steven was born into motorsport royalty as the son of legendary Australian motorsport identity Dick Johnson. Having raced in Sports Sedans, Super Touring Cars and V8 Supercars since 1993, Steven is a three time Australian champion and the current Touring car masters champion. He brings an incredibly deep skill set and years of expertise each time he features at an Audi driving experience.
